Vera and I are roommates and also best friends. Because we seldom have time to eat breakfast in our canteen, we always eat breakfast on our way to Wende Building.
One day, we rushed to the canteen and finished purchasing two steamed stuffed buns and a cup of soya-bean milk as usual. There is no doubt that we have lots of things to tell each other since we are best friends. When I started taking a bite of my buns, Vera began to tell something so funny that had happened to another friend of her. I burst into laughter and could not stop laughing when I was chewing and ingesting. Suddenly I hiccuped, feeling something trapped in my throat and in the middle of my esophagus. I thought drinking some soya-bean milk would help. But then, Vera's funny story came to a climax. I was just a machine that could not multitask. My brain gave the order to laugh when I was drinking, so I choked. Nevertheless, things got much worse than I could imagine. I squated immediately and spat out what I drank. I noticed that some passersby were in a great shock and they were apparently taken aback. I felt so terrible that I could hardly take a breath with a cold sweat breaking out on my back of my neck. Vera helped me to stand up in surprise and astonishment. I couldn't talk but just coughed again and again. My hair turned messy, looking like a fleeing girl. I couldn't also control my tears falling down any more. How embarrassed I was! How I wished there were somewhere for me to hide myself. Can you imagine the expression in the passerby's eyes?
Vera said that she nearly took me to the hospital and we didn’t need to take classes. For me that was so embarrassing and painful that I never want to experience it again. I hope to warn my classmates not to tell jokes when someone is eating.
